چکیده
Lagrangian particle-based methods have opened new perspectives for the investigation of complex problems with large free-surface deformation. Some well-known adopted to solve non-linear hydrodynamics are smoothed particle (SPH) and moving semi-implicit (MPS). Both modeled continuum by a system particles (points) but adopting distinct approaches numerical operators, pressure calculation, boundary conditions. Despite ability in modeling highly nonlinear hydrodynamics, some shortcomings, such as unstable computation high computational cost remains. In order assess performance these two methods, weaklycompressible SPH (WCSPH) parallel solver, DualSPHysics, an in-house incompressible MPS solver this work. Two test cases consisting threedimensional (3D) dam-break simulated, wave heights, pressures forces compared available experimental data. The influence artificial viscosity on accuracy WCSPH is investigated. Computational times both solvers also compared. Finally, relative benefits solving discussed, therefore providing directions their applicability.

Incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations on free surface flows
The water wave generation by wave paddle and a freely falling rigid body are examined by using an Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (ISPH). In the current ISPH method, the pressure was evaluated by solving pressure Poisson equation using a semi-implicit algorithm based on the projection scheme and the source term of pressure Poisson equation contains both of divergence free ve...

Modelling aerated flows is a complex application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) since the interfaces between air and water change rapidly. In this work, the simulation of aerated flows with the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method is investigated with a focus towards the application in engineering practice. To prove the accuracy of the method, the processes of air entrainment and...

متن کاملIncompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics
We present a smoothed particle hydrodynamic model for incompressible fluids. As opposed to solving a pressure Poisson equation in order to get a divergence-free velocity field, here incompressibility is achieved by requiring as a kinematic constraint that the volume of the fluid particles is constant. We use Lagrangian multipliers to enforce this restriction. These Lagrange multipliers play the...
متن کاملSmoothed particle hydrodynamics
In this review the theory and application of Smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) since its inception in 1977 are discussed. Emphasis is placed on the strengths and weaknesses, the analogy with particle dynamics and the numerous areas where SPH has been successfully applied. 0034-4885/05/081703+57$90.00 © 2005 IOP Publishing Ltd Printed in the UK 1703
